Exclusive Entertainment Interview

JD Cannon

JD Cannon

1. How did the band come together?

Well at first I was a solo project and was getting some good feedback doing that. I have a very large group of musician friends and when I thought it was time to form a band, it came together very quickly. My musician friends were volunteering for the project right away...it seemed to come together almost to easily..

2. Has your sound changed?

In the last few months we have added a hip hop rap element to the band with Ross Adderly a.k.a (Fresh Air) coming on board...we still have an edgy alternative rock sound, but now with the rap element I think it adds a great cross over sound that draws in people who really love innovative music...

3. What's the most fun about touring?

Playing live, connecting with the crowd and bonding with the guys in the band.....it really forces you to come together as there as so many variables to overcome on different nights....Nathan Down can back me up on this one just ask him about the show in Oshawa..hahaha...

4. Describe what it feels like to perform live?

It is a very cool feeling. Scary at times but also a very satisfying experience. When you spend so much time writing and rehearsing its nice to bring the music to people live and see their reaction. It just fills you with energy and I love that feeling, its like you come alive in an instant.

5. What do you want people to remember after going to see you live?

Good question.. I guess more than anything that they feel like they had just heard and saw something they have never heard or seen before..so much music these days blends into one another its important to me to be relevant but different as well.

6. What makes JD Cannon stand out from the other bands?

Our lyrics, and sound. I have been told that we have a unique sound and to me that is a big compliment...every member of our band come from a different background of music...punk-alternative-thrash metal-hip hop..so together it is a eclectic mix

7. What's in store for the Future?

Well, we are about to record our first full length disk..we are very excited about this because now people will be able to access our new sound online...the stuff that is there now was from my solo project and we are more edgy and electric now. Also, lots of shows and writing..

8. What motivates JD Cannon?

Life motivates me...every day I find a reason to write....always changing and challenging, funny and interesting...I jump out of bed in the morning ready to go....

9. Final thoughts...... I wont have any until my dying day.............lol.....hope that makes sense....yes, yes I am a bit sarcastic a times....I guess my final thoughts on this topic would be get your ass's out to the Blais Festival and see some amazing bands.....if you don't we will find you..hahaha...oh ya

NO MORE WAR........PEACE
